University Lecturer, Technology management

The School of Technology and Innovations is now inviting applications for the position of University Lecturer in Technology management. The position is located in the Production team. The position will be filled on a permanent basis. The starting date is 1.5.2021 or as agreed. The employment is subject to a trial period of six (6) months. 

Your role

The position is teaching orientated and the teaching duties of the position are mainly connected to the planning, design, optimization, operation and control of technological products, processes and services to gain competitive advantage.

As a University Lecturer in Technology management you will:

• Contribute to core teaching on the BSc and MSc Industrial management programmes 
• Provide excellent supervision for MSc and PhD students
• Undertake research and lead on projects in the field
• Prepare high quality articles for journals and conferences

The annual working time is 1612 hours. The tasks are agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan. 

Requirements

The successful candidate will strengthen our existing areas of expertise, and can demonstrate their ability to teach at undergraduate and graduate level. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering high quality teaching and research.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• PhD in Industrial management and engineering or a related discipline.
• Successful completion of high quality research including publication in refereed academic journals.
• Evidence of expertise and innovation in research methods/practice
• Ability and skills to design teaching programmes, enhance the current teaching provision, and supervise student research projects in the field

The merits of applicants for the position of university lecturer will be evaluated on the basis of teaching experience and pedagogical training, the ability to create teaching material, other teaching merits and, where necessary, a teaching demonstration, as well as the applicant's scientific work.

Strong English language skills are a prerequisite to succeed in the position. The administrative language of the University of Vaasa is Finnish. Finnish language skills are seen as beneficial in the position. The position is situated in School of Technology and Innovations and team of Production (Industrial Management).

Industrial Management aims to provide comprehensive teaching and research operations to cover entire production operations and service chains. The aim is to educate multidisciplinary professionals who have the ability to combine technological, commercial and management perspectives in their work. The main focuses of the research are strategic management, logistics systems, product and service development in Vaasa and service innovations in Lapua (SC-Research group).

Salary

The salary is based on the University Salary System for Teaching and Research Staff. The salary for a University Lecturer is based on demand levels 5-7 (2968-3990 €/month). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance.
