Trainees for the Doctoral Education team

The University of Helsinki International trainee programme is open to all international students enrolled in a University of Helsinki master’s programme.  

We are looking for four trainees for the Doctoral Education team.
Your main task as a trainee is supporting the development and implementation of the Doctoral Education Pilot and especially the Base Camp training sessions taking place in the fall 2024. University of Helsinki is hiring 236 doctoral researchers in the Doctoral Education Pilot, and about half of them will start in the Fall 2024. The Doctoral Education team will organise one three-day and one four-day Base Camp for the new doctoral researchers at the university’s research stations in Tvärminne, Hyytiälä, and Lammi. In addition to the doctoral education Base Camps, you will participate in the day-to-day administrative tasks, support for the doctoral researchers and doctorald education team.

As a trainee, you will assist the team to organise and participate in the two Base Camps and giving a memorable experience for the doctoral researcher. You will do this in close collaboration with other colleagues. Your tasks will include:

•    contacting doctoral researchers,
•    organising logistics and scheduling events
•    communication before, during and after the Base Camps
•    and other work that align with your interests

The specific focus of your responsibilities can be defined based on your experience, skills, and interests. You have fluency in spoken and written English. Other language skills are an asset. You have a proactive way of working and good communication and excellent teamwork skills. Experience in communications or event management is an advantage.

The duration of a traineeship is 1 September to 31 December 2024 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.
