Trainee for the European and Nordic studies master's programme

The University of Helsinki International trainee programme is open to all international students enrolled in a University of Helsinki master’s programme.

We are now looking for a TRAINEE for the European and Nordic studies master’s programme located in the Centre for European Studies.


The duration of a traineeship is from 1 September to 31 December 2024 (four months) of part-time (50%) work, leaving time for studies as well. The salary of a trainee is €700 per month for a part-time (50%) trainee.

About the position

The selected candidate will work at the Centre for European Studies . The trainee will help the European and Nordic Studies (ENS) Programme director with variety of tasks related to the development and visibility of the master’s programme. Especially we aim to improve the marketing of the programme, communication and contents of the webpages and social media.


We appreciate if the applicant has knowledge of European and EU related topics and is willing to develop with us the expertise in teaching and researching these issues.


Besides these duties, the trainee will help the staff members with academic publications, project applications and organizing events.


The person we are looking for


We are looking for a pro-active and motivated person, eager to develop the programme and co-operate with our staff members and programme students.


The successful applicant is expected to have:
•    Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
•    Interest in European and EU related issues, especially from the Nordic perspective.
•    The ability to work independently, together with different colleagues and in an international environment.
•    The ability (or willingness to learn) to update webpages and social media contents.
•    Appreciated skills include marketing and communication experience and potential for producing interesting material for webpages, social media etc.
