Role profile

The field of the position is regional development and innovation policy. The research profile is based on how knowledge-based global competition, urbanisation and digital transformation are influencing public policies on innovation, and how these are likely to affect regional development at the national, EU and global level. This multidisciplinary research profile is intended to strengthen and complement existing research at the university in the areas of regional innovation studies, public sector reforms, and complexity research.

We are particularly interested in applicants whose interests are interdisciplinary, such as researchers in economic geography who focus on innovation research, or candidates of other disciplines who have carried out innovation research.

The expected areas of expertise and interest ideally include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • The global innovation landscape and the role of public policies on national and EU levels;
  • The impacts of globalisation, urbanisation and digitalisation on regional development, and future-oriented, innovative urban and regional policies;
  • Sustainability policy innovations, including social justice and the development of interactive processes between diverse societal actors (e.g. quadruple helix) and regions (e.g. urban-rural interaction);
  • The use of big data and data analytics, forecasting and simulation techniques to model the effects of social, economic and policy decisions on regional development.

The position is based in the School of Management and connected to the multidisciplinary research platform InnoLab. Activities in research are also linked to the research group Public policy and organisations. More information: 

Your profile and requirements

The Tenure Track position is research-orientated, but the appointed person will also acquire external funding, deliver high-quality teaching and theses supervision, actively participate in activities within the scientific community and university administration, as well as create societal impact through their work. The teaching and supervision of the position is focused on the Bachelor's and Master's programs in Administrative Sciences and the Doctoral Program in Social Sciences. The scope of responsibilities is determined according to the career stage of the successful candidate and agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan.

We are looking for candidates with a suitable  doctoral degree (PhD) together with, excellent academic merit as well as evidence of the ability to produce high quality research. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of, or potential for, excellence in teaching. Further information

  • The position will be filled using the tenure track procedure. A person fulfilling all qualification requirements  and demonstrating   particular merits may be appointed directly to the  position of   Professor on a permanent employment contract. The position may also be filled for a fixed term as Assistant  Professor or Associate Professor. The level of appointment depends on the merits and career stage of the applicant.   • The employment starts as agreed and is subject to a trial period of 6 months.
