We are looking for an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Marketing. The position is within the marketing discipline at the unit of business studies at the Faculty of Management and Business . 

 

Job description 

The selected candidate for this marketing tenure track position is expected to engage in relevant scientific research, contribute to and promote teaching in one’s areas of expertise, participate in the generation of external research funding, follow developments in the field of marketing, and engage in societal interaction and international collaboration within their field. In addition, the person selected for the position is expected to contribute to the implementation of the marketing curriculum. 

The research activities of the candidate selected for the marketing tenure track position will be integrated into the customer-oriented marketing research group. The research group focuses on themes such as customer value, customer experience, retail, consumer research, sustainable marketing, circular economy, decision-making, business models and strategic marketing. The selected candidate's research profile should emphasize relevant aspects of the research group's focal areas and demonstrate applicability of the candidate's research to various (organizational and societal) contexts. The research profile should also demonstrate capabilities for methodologically diverse research and teaching activities.

Requirements

Requirements for the post of Assistant Professor :

• an applicable doctoral degree 
• ability to undertake independent and international scholarly activity and the potential to produce research at a high international level of excellence in fields mentioned in the job description 
• teaching skills required to successfully perform the duties and functions of the position
• ambitious research plan

Requirements for the post of Associate Professor: 

• an applicable doctoral degree 
• track record of independent scholarly activity 
• track record of high-quality scientific activity in the fields mentioned in the job description 
• teaching skills required to successfully perform the duties and functions of the position 
• ambitious research plan 
• track record of supervising university-level theses 
• ability to lead a research group and acquire external funding 
• track record of international scholarly activity and societal impact

The task requires good communication skills in English and Finnish (or a strong motivation to learn Finnish). 

The top candidates will be interviewed. If necessary, an aptitude assessment may also be used. In addition, the candidates may be required to demonstrate their teaching skills. The shortlisted candidates will be evaluated by external experts. 

 

We offer 

The initial appointment is for five years 1.1.2025 – 31.12.2029, or as mutually agreed. If successful, the person chosen will tenure at the end of the first five-year period. A trial period of six months applies to all our new employees. The principles of the tenure evaluation are laid out in the tenure  track career system at Tampere University .

Salary is based on the job-related salary element (the requirement of duties) and the employees’ personal performance. The starting salary of an Assistant Professor will range between 4400 - 4800 EUR/month, and of an Associate Professor between 5200 - 5500 EUR/month. Higher salaries may be possible, depending on the candidate’s experience and performance. Salary is measured in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System.
