The Department of Chemistry , in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science is currently seeking to recruit a

SENIOR LECTURER, inorganic chemistry / circular economy

for a fixed-term position starting June 1st  or as soon as possible thereafter until the end of year 2025.

Qualifications we are looking for

The responsibilities of the Senior Lecturer are research and teaching tasks relating to their research area. The person chosen is expected to do internationally high-level research. We primarily seek a candidate whose research area emphasizes inorganic chemistry or inorganic analytics especially in the recovery of metals as well as isolation of the recovered substances. Additional refinement of the isolated compounds is also related to the research field. The tasks are strongly linked to the objectives and goals of Chemistry in Circular Economy at the University of Jyväskylä.

The chosen applicant is required to prove the ability to conduct and publish academic research, international networking and collaboration, as well as funding acquisition. Experience in leading research projects is considered beneficial. A successful applicant has experience in metal analysis and recovery and is familiar with different recovery methods. Understanding of process technique, as well as collaborative efforts and networks within the industry are considered beneficial.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Senior Lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines.  A good command of English is considered beneficial.

The annual salary range will be approximately 46,000 - 55,000 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

  • The top five (5 at the most) publications numbered according to the publication list.
  • A short (2-4 pages) description of the applicant’s academic research and scientific merits. The applicant must clearly describe their academic research and scientific merits in collaboration with the industry.
  • A short (2-4 pages) plan on how the applicant is aiming to improve the research and societal impact of Chemistry in Circular Economy, specifically research on metal analysis and recovery.

    The department of Chemistry is a central operator in the strength area of “Basic natural phenomena and mathematical thinking” in the University of Jyväskylä.
