The Laboratory of Structural Biology, headed by the Institute’s Director, Prof. Juha Huiskonen, is seeking a research technician. Candidates should have a degree in molecular or cell biology, biotechnology, or equivalent suitable qualification, and have demonstrated experience in mammalian cell culture. Additionally, excellent skills in basic molecular biology techniques are required. Prior experience in (membrane) protein purification is a benefit but not a requirement. We expect proficiency in written and spoken English in addition to good planning and communication skills. 

Your role is to work independently in assisting researchers in their day-to-day research tasks. We offer you a highly supportive, collaborative, and international research environment. Our research is aimed at understanding the structure and function of cellular macromolecular complexes and enveloped viruses. We apply a range of methods, including cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM), advanced fluorescence microscopy methods, and correlative imaging. The working language of the laboratory is English. The starting salary is defined in accordance with the University’s salary system for specialist and support staff (ca. 2300¬–2650 euros/month, depending on the appointee’s qualifications and experience, with a discretionary range of up to 3255 euros/month). The position is initially made for two years, with the possibility of renewal. A trial period of six months will be applied. The position will be filled as soon as possible, or as agreed with the selected candidate.
