Work tasks

Research at the Natural Resources Institute Finland, Kuopio Maaninka site focuses strongly on grassland research. Ongoing research projects focus on grassland-based livestock issues, especially in Eastern and Northern Finland. The target is sustainable cattle production, where sustainability includes economic sustainability as well as an environmental perspective. The research is carried out e.g. grass production (cultivation methods, fertilization, yield, quality, preservation, economy), grazing and environmental issues in grass production (nutrient leaching, greenhouse gases). The task includes the research tasks of ongoing projects, the design, supervision, sampling and reporting of results as part of the research team's activities. Carrying out this task requires good expertise in agricultural processes.

Qualifications

We expect the following from the applicant:
- master's or doctoral degree in plant science, biology or soil science or otherwise appropriate degree
- good expertise in agricultural processes
- the ability to manage entities in changing circumstances
- ability to work independently
- commitment to operational development
- the possibility to travel if the work so requires

Previous experience in conducting research and writing a scientific text is counted as an advantage for the applicant.

The applicant must have good cooperation and communication skills. Good written and oral proficiency in English is required for the job.

Salary

 The position is at complexity level 6-8 in Luke's salary system and the position-specific salary is EUR 2 775.25 - 3 310.60 per month. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance will be paid (max. 50% of the position-specific salary). A new employee's personal performance component depends on competence and experience and generally falls in the range of 15-20%. The applicant may also present a separate salary request.
