We invite applications for the position of RESEARCH COORDINATOR for a fixed term of five years to begin on 14 August 2023 or as agreed. The position is shared by three faculties at the University of Helsinki City Centre Campus.

The research coordinator will be responsible for collaboration between the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Behavioural Sciences and the Faculty of Theology in the new multidisciplinary RESET research environment promoting just and sustainable solutions. Of the four themes encompassed by RESET, the City Centre Campus activities focus on the development of new, transdisciplinary research paradigms bringing together various forms of knowledge and highlighting issues of justice and sustainability ethics as well as hierarchies of knowledge production. The appointee will collaborate closely with the Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ), the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS), Helsinki One Health (HOH) and the Helsinki Institute for Social Sciences and Humanities (HSSH).

In addition, the appointee will help develop and communicate on the research environment, liaise with researchers and research groups in the RESET network, and collaborate with relevant partners outside the University.

APPOINTMENT CRITERIA

The position requires an applicable doctoral degree, relevant work experience providing the necessary knowledge and skills, and experience in transdisciplinary collaboration. Other requirements include proficiency in English and IT skills.

Resilient and Just Systems (RESET) is an inter- and transdisciplinary research environment that brings together the life sciences and social sciences to offer just and sustainable solutions that reinforce systemic resilience. It seeks solutions to complex and complicated global sustainability challenges and crises requiring new kinds of transdisciplinary cooperation. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine  manages RESET, which involves the faculties of biological and environmental sciences, agriculture and forestry, pharmacy, medicine, educational sciences, theology and social sciences, as well as Helsinki Institute of Life Science HiLIFE. The RESET activities are coordinated at the City Centre Campus by the Helsinki Inequality Initiative (INEQ) , a multidisciplinary network in inequality research.
