We are now looking for a

PROJECT RESEARCHER / POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCHER

starting 1st September 2022 until the end of August 2024

to join a team of research experts with pool of mentors for a case at the Faculty of Information Technology.

The SAFE Project will start 1st September 2022, and run for two years, in which we will aim for commercialization of the SAFE Solution as new business for an eventual startup.

The SAFE Project is a Business Finland funded project that aims to develop an authentication solution (the SAFE Solution) and prepare it for commercialization.

The SAFE Solution could potentially replace the current authentication mechanisms (inc. passwords). It is a unique innovation, developed from expert knowledge of the human memory, the user interaction with technology, and cyber security. The solution would support all digital services; that meets the needs of the cyber security industry, while considering the needs of users. We envision the solution not just as an application for security-conscious users, but see the solution being used globally by all users, giving access to all systems and services. It has the potential to change the authentication process for all, and finally making the frustrations with passwords a thing of the past.

Your tasks

You will undertake applied research that will contribute to the functional architecture of the SAFE Solution and translate it into a technical architecture to produce a mockup of the solution. You will work with our partners and subcontractors in testing the mockup of the solution. You will actively work and negotiate with our industry partners and subcontractors to ensure the projects and work are achieved.

This position can be tailorized to suit your interests. The position can be either full-time or part-time depending on your skills and role.

Requirements of the position

We are looking for someone who will commit to this project for two years and will be interested in potentially creating a startup with our team after the project has finished.

You will have:

-        Master’s degree (Project Researcher) or Doctoral degree (Post-doctoral Researcher)

-        Industry experience

-        IT/software project management and/or R&D and solution development experience

-        Knowledge/experience/interest of cyber security/authentication

-        Fluency in English language, and preferably Finnish language

-        Ability to work with people from different backgrounds

-        Excellent teamwork, negotiation and communications skills

The monthly salary for a Project Researcher will be approximately 2500-2700 EUR (gross income) based on the qualification. The monthly salary range for a Post-doctoral Researcher will be approximately 3500 - 3700 EUR (gross income) based on the qualification.

A trial period maximum six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
