Offer Description

We have an opening for a talented project researcher to join our team focusing on molecular mechanisms regulating photosynthetic reactions. The selected candidate will focus on the characterization of chloroplast acetyltransferase enzymes and their impact in adjusting photosynthetic light harvesting and efficiency of light reactions. We offer access to a comprehensive selection of cutting-edge research methods and equipment in photosynthesis research, protein biochemistry, molecular biology and plant physiology.


Key Responsibilities
  • production of research material (plants, E.coli, Agrobacteria)
  • structural and functional analyses of thylakoid protein complexes
  • protein purification and in vitro enzyme activity assays

Who we are looking for
  • MSc in plant biology, life sciences or other relevant discipline
  • Proven hands-on experience in molecular life sciences
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English
  • Strong project management and reporting skills
  • Strong organizational skills

Desirable qualifications
  • Experience in plant biology
  • Experience in molecular biology
  • Good grades and/or good scientific publication record considering career stage

Benefits

The salary is determined by the collective agreement system of Finnish universities. The position belongs to our research personnel and the salary for a Project Researcher is in the range of 2400 -2550 €/month. There will be a trial period of four months. The starting date of employment is on 1st of March, but can be negotiated. The position is fixed-term for 8 months. For a successful candidate there is a possibility to apply a doctoral student position (3-4 years).

Department of Life Technologies

The Department of Life Technologies is one of the largest teaching and research units at the University of Turku.
