The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is inviting applications for Project Researcher positions in the KAMUT project at the Department of Environmental and Biological Sciences and the Department of Technical Physics at the UEF Kuopio campus. The position will be filled for a fixed term from 15 April 2024 (or starting date as agreed).

Please find more information below and submit your application no later than 5 April 2024.

Role and salary

The KAMUT project seeks new growth substrates and pilots their suitability for strawberry cultivation. The aim is to develop strawberry cultivation, automated irrigation systems and resource-efficient hydroponic techniques that are compatible with the growth substrates and based on nutrient recycling. The eventual purpose of the project is to develop new vertical farming methods.

In this subproject, we consider the instrumentation, measurement and (optimal) control topics related to vertical farming. The researcher is hosted by the Department of Technical Physics at the UEF Kuopio campus in Computational Physics and Inverse Problems research group . The project is partly funded by European Commission Just Transition Fund (JTF).

The duties of the Project Researcher include and/or are involved with:

  • Measuring the physical properties of growth substrate materials.

The position will be filled for a fixed term from 15 April 2024 (or as agreed) to 31.8.2026 due to it pertaining to a specific project. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
