Digital Economy at the University of Vaasa is a phenomenon-based, multidisciplinary open research platform, which focuses on research of the digital transformation in industry and society. It has researchers from all Schools of our university and conducts research projects on the latest trends in digitalisation, the state of the art technologies and data economy. We are looking for a project researcher for the Digital Economy research platform for a fixed-term employment until April 30, 2024. The position will begin in May 2022 or can be negotiated. 

Your role

The Project Researcher will work in the international Erasmus development project, GreenoVET (https://www.greenovet.eu/ ). The project will develop a center of excellence for green innovation in vocational education together with local and international partners. As the Project Researcher, you are the representative of the University of Vaasa in the project, and are responsible for the progress of the project together with the project manager and the staff of the University of Vaasa. The Project Researcher will work closely with the project team and support the team in a variety of ways related to: 

  • preparing project reporting/deliverables
  • developing courses and training programs to foster green innovation
  • assisting in curriculum development related to green innovation with pedagogical inputs 
  • managing project communication and coordination between project partners, local companies and other international stakeholders
  • organizing and coordinating various events and meetings

The position may also include other tasks related to the successful implementation of the project.

All tasks are agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan. The annual working time for the Project Researcher is 1612 hours. 

Your experience

We are looking for motivated graduates (M.Sc.) or students (nearly graduated), who are seeking an opportunity to be a part of a quick learning environment to improve their careers further. Experience in research projects, as well as international work experience, teacher's pedagogical qualifications, digital competences, knowledge of vocational training and quality management is a plus. As a Project Researcher you have good communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills. You have an active, self-driven and entrepreneurial approach to work as well as genuine interest in scientific research and societal development. An example of a suitable background discipline is industrial management but also other disciplines in social sciences, business studies or engineering are feasible. Interest towards doctoral studies is also considered an asset and could be integrated to the work.

English language skills are a prerequisite to succeed in the position. Finnish and Swedish language skills are considered an advantage but not a prerequisite. The salary will be based on both the job requirement and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System. The monthly salary of a Project Researcher is based on job demand levels 2-4 (€ 2,078-2,591). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance.
