Strengthening Sustainability Expertise project seeks a helping hand in preparation of a research and development project

The aim of the research and development project under preparation is to study sustainability expertise in work communities and to co-develop models and methods to enhance sustainability knowledge, skills and agency of staff. The project will be developed in cooperation with Finnish and international partners. 

You will work in a multidisciplinary team of teachers, researchers, and experts in the Strengthening Sustainability Expertise project. You will work in close cooperation with the Institute for Sustainability Studies (HELSUS), the Centre for University Pedagogy (HYPE) and the partners involved in the planned project. 

Job description: Your main tasks will be to help prepare the funding application and write the application documents. The tasks may include, for example, data searches, preparing literature reviews and publication lists, assist in preparing budgets, drafting and writing sections of the research plan in accordance with the funder's instructions, liaising with partners, participation in project planning workshops, and other tasks related to research project planning and preparation of the funding application. The tasks will be agreed in more detail with the person selected, depending on their expertise. 

Requirements: For this job we are looking for a person who has a systematic approach to work, academic writing skills, knowledge of sustainability science/education/training concepts and theories, excellent English language skills, cooperation skills and willingness to work with people from different backgrounds. We hope you are interested in conducting research related to sustainability transformation or development of sustainability expertise. We appreciate previous experience in research projects and participation in funding applications. 

What we offer: The position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary sustainability education and research community, and to engage with national and international networks in the field. 

Duration and salary: The job is part-time (50%) and runs from the first of August 2024 to 31st of January 2025 (negotiable). You will have a say in the scheduling of your own working hours. 

Remuneration is based on the salary scale for expert and support staff. For part-time (50%) position, the salary will be around 1300-1650€/month, depending on skills and experience.
