As part of University Services, the Research Services sector concentrates on supporting the University’s internationally high-quality research and its prerequisites, doctoral education, and the impact and usability of research.

We are now inviting applications to the position of

PROJECT COORDINATOR

for a fixed-term contract until 31.12.2026. The appointee will work advancing research collaboration and arranging events for both the Finnish Center for Artificial Intelligence FCAI, which is an Academy of Finland flagship of the University of Helsinki, Aalto University and VTT, and the Department of Computer Science in the University of Helsinki Kumpula campus. The work in FCAI occasionally requires you to work at the Otaniemi campus of Aalto University.

About the position

As a project coordinator, your duties are to advance research collaboration between FCAI and other areas of research, in particular other Academy of Finland flagships and Centres of Excellence; to advance research collaboration between the Department of Computer Science and e.g. universities in the USA; to arrange events, such as the AI Day , as well as smaller events; and various communication tasks related to these duties. Depending on the appointee’s background and interests, responsibilities related to the content of research are also possible.

Requirements

  • A degree from an institute of higher education (university or university of applied sciences)
  • Experience in research project administration or of working in a research group; experience of international collaboration is a merit
  • Good communication skills with fluent written and spoken English, and preferably at least a satisfactory command of Finnish

Experience or studies in computer science or related fields and experience of working in a university setting are an advantage. PhD studies are also a merit.

The starting date is negotiable, but we hope the appointee can take up the position in March 2023 at latest. The starting salary will depend on the appointee’s expertise and experience, typically being in the range of €3,100 to €3,500 per month.
