Project Coordinator at the Viikki Campus

We are now inviting applications to the position of

PROJECT COORDINATOR

for a fixed-term contract (1.3.2023 – 14.1.2024) as a maternity leave cover. The appointee will work for two EU-funded consortium projects coordinated by the University of Helsinki, located at the UH Viikki Campus. The duties of the position mainly relate to the administrative and communicative aspects of projects. However, depending on the appointee’s background and interests, responsibilities related to the content of research are also possible.

About the position

As a project coordinator, your duties consist of project management, communication, and reporting. These include planning operations; supporting collaboration among various parties; project reporting (EU participant portal); web page maintenance and a range of other communication tasks. There will also be tasks related to financial and HR matters of the projects, as well as occasionally need to organize meetings and other events.

The projects

  • Nanomedicines and Biomedical Engineering Group led by Professor Helder Santos of the Faculty of Pharmacy. The main tasks of the coordinator will be administering a large EU-funded MSCA-ITN-EJD project with several international partners. Therefore, proficiency in English and an ability to manage EU bureaucracy are required.
  • Identification of best practices for biodiversity recovery and public health interventions to prevent future epidemics and pandemics -project led by Professor Frauke Ecke of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences. The position requires experience in duties related to research administration or funding, preferably from (consortium) projects funded by the EU. You have good interaction and communication skills on fluent level in English. Skills in other languages, especially in Finnish, are an asset. A track record from university administration is appreciated.

Requirements

  • A degree from an institute of higher education (university or university of applied sciences)
  • Experience in research project administration or of working in a research group
  • Fluent written and spoken English, and preferably at least a satisfactory command of Finnish

We value knowledge of processes and of administering national and international research funding, good communication skills, the ability to work in a team, and a proactive work attitude. You get along well with people and like to work in a dynamic and international work environment. Experience or studies in the relevant field(s) of science and experience of working in a university setting are an advantage.

The appointment will be on a fixed-term basis (substitute for a maternity leave). The exact starting date is negotiable, but we hope the appointee can take up the position around the beginning of March 2023. The current appointment will continue until 14.1.2024. The starting salary will depend on the appointee’s expertise and experience, typically being in the range of €3,200 to €3,400 per month.
