Postdoctoral Researcher / Senior Researcher (Molecular mechanisms of RAB24)

Professor Eeva-Liisa Eskelinen is looking for a highly motivated person with experience in molecular cell biology to join her research group (https://sites.utu.fi/eskelinengroup/ ) as a Postdoctoral Researcher / Senior Researcher at the Institute of Biomedicine . The position is fixed-term until 31 August 2026. Preferable starting date is in September 2022, but it is negotiable.

The project aims to understand the regulation and function of the small GTP-binding protein RAB24 in mammalian cells. The focus is on characterization of novel RAB24-interacting proteins revealed by our interactome screening. The regulation of RAB24 is relevant to human health, since the protein has been implicated in neurodegeneration, fatty liver and liver cancer. The research project is funded by the Academy of Finland.

Essential Qualifications

  • A PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. biomedicine, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry)
  • Competence in independent scientific thinking and project management
  • Good communication, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Fluent spoken and written English

Desirable Qualifications

  • Competence in tissue culture methods
  • Skills in molecular cell biology methods

Salary

Salary offered is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel and it is approximately 3500-3700 €/month. Salaried positions in Finland automatically include payments to a pension fund, unemployment funds, an extensive occupational healthcare, affordable sports services and even a holiday allowance.

A six (6) month trial period applies to the positions.
