The Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry invites applications for the position of postdoctoral researcher in the context of Nordic forest policies. The position is for a fixed term of 2 years full-time starting from September, 2022 onwards (or as agreed).
The postdoctoral researcher will be employed at the Department of Forest Sciences and will be part of the research project “Green forest policies: a comparative assessment of outcomes and trade-offs across Fenno-Scandinavia (GreenPole)”. The overarching aim of the project is to assess effects of forest policies through an interdisciplinary approach, and derive evidence-based policy advice. The project is part of a consortium of three Universities, including Lund University, the University of Copenhagen and the University of Helsinki. The project includes a number of a workpackages employing and combining multiple models and methods from ecology, environmental science, and social sciences.
The postdoctoral researcher is expected to identify and evaluate, using qualitative methods, key changes in forest policies during the period 2000-2020 in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. She/he is also expected to contribute to the overall success of the project, by engaging and collaborating with the overall team. The position may involve departmental duties, mainly in the form of teaching, up to 10%. The position will be based in Helsinki, Finland.
QUALIFICATIONS
An appointee to the position must hold a doctoral degree in environmental policy, forest sciences, sustainability sciences or other relevant fields. The candidate should be familiar with qualitative methods, in particular: interview-based data collection with researchers and other experts as data sources; qualitative analysis of interviews and other written material; structured literature reviews. The candidate should be capable of independent work as well as collaboration with an international and interdisciplinary team. The working language will be English.
