Postdoctoral Researcher

in the system on chip (SoC) technology for wireless systems. We are looking for talented and highly motivated postdoctoral researcher interested in System-on-Chip (SoC) research in wireless communications and sensing. Especially in this call we are looking for person who are ready to contribute in more than one of the research themes as below for 5G and 6G applications:

  • 5G and 6G architecture and system design
  • SoCs design for transceiver prototypes
  • IP design methodology exploring PPA trade-offs in SoCs
  • Machine learning for 5G and 6G

The faculty and the research group

CWC and CMVS belong to Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering and work on technologies relevant for evolving 6G wireless systems as part of 6G Flagship . The SoC team will be established to work on the relevant algorithm, architecture, computation, and design aspects to support the realization of future wireless devices and systems.


Job Description

Postdoctoral Researcher will carry out research work within a research team, publish research results in the most esteemed international fora, participate to mentoring and teaching students, project management and applications for funding.

Qualification requirements

To qualify as a Postdoctoral Researcher, you must possess an applicable Doctor of Science/Philosophy degree in electrical engineering. The doctoral degree must have been received no more than 10 years ago.

In addition, we appreciate:

  • You should have expertise in digital design and hands-on design experience with tools for FPGA development; be able to program in HDL (Verilog and/or VHDL) and/or HLS.
  • You should have background in digital signal processing, computer architecture, system-on-chip architecture concepts
  • Knowledge of physical layer transmission principles for wireless communication.
  • Familiarity with programming/computing concepts and a proficiency in C and Matlab.
  • Capability to write scientific publications of the highest level
  • Readiness for demanding challenges
  • High motivation and work efficiency both in theoretical and experimental studies
  • Co-operational and team working skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Positive mindset and the ability to interact with people from various backgrounds

Salary

The position is fixed term for two years starting February 1st, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter. A trial period of 6 months is applied in the positions.

The salary of selected postdoctoral researcher will be set on requirement level 5-6 of the national salary scale for the teaching and research staff of Finnish universities. In addition, a supplementary remuneration is given for personal achievement and performance (max. 50 %). In practice, the salary is between 3100 - 4000 € per month (before taxes) depending on the qualification.
