Postdoctoral Researcher for Silicon Microfluidics

Postdoctoral Researcher for Silicon Microfluidics

In this position you would be working in a project about integrated microfluidic systems for culturing and measuring neurons and organoids on chips. The project is part of the EU-funded consortium project CONNECT. Your research will focus on designing and fabricating silicon and polymer microfluidic chips. Chip characterization requires collaboration with electrochemists and neurobiologists, but your main task will be chip fabrication in cleanroom.

This position is in professor Sami Franssila’s Microfabrication group , and it involves collaboration with Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering, Aalto Nanofab, TU Eindhoven Microsystems, and various biology groups around Europe. 

Requirements

We are looking for a PhD in MEMS, microelectronics, nanotechnology or physics. Keywords for expertise are lithography, etching, CVD, sputtering, bonding. CAD layout design and mask fabrication experience a big plus.

The expected starting salary for a postdoctoral researcher who has recently received their PhD is approximately 3500 €/month and salary will increase with responsibilities and performance over time. The contract includes occupational health care services and Finland has a comprehensive social security system. We wish that you could join the research group preferably August 1st, 2022 but we are ready to negotiate about the starting date for exceptional candidates. The project runs until the end of 2023 and the employment contract is accordingly fixed-term.
