We are now looking for a


Field study coordinator

with solid background in Public Health and/or Epidemiology to join our newly funded Research and Innovation Action Horizon Europe project set to study the life-course determinants of healthy ageing (the STAGE project).

The successful candidate will join the Research Unit of Population Health (Research group in life-course epidemiology) and will work in tight collaboration with the Infrastructure for population studies, Arctic Biobank, and Northern Finland Birth Cohorts. Together these two departments are creating a unique facility to study and inform on the environmental, social and biological determinants of life-long health. The scientific programme operates both at the local and national level but also at the international level to support synergy between longitudinal cohorts and biobanks across Europe (e.g. the LongITools project ).       


About the Job

The position is available for a period of 36 months starting from April 1, 2024. As a researcher in public health you will be in charge of coordinating the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966 data collection when the population reaches 60 years of age (in 2026). Your work will include working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-professional environment (epidemiologists, biostatisticians, data managers, clinicians, field study team and partipants’ representatives) to co-design the follow-up of the study and coordinate the field study until completion. The follow-up will be designed with three main activities: health and sociodemographic questionnaires, clinical study and digital follow-up.


Who Are You

In order to succeed and enjoy the position, we expect you to have:

  • A doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology or another field in medicine or health sciences related to the open position, obtained no more than 10 years ago.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both in Finnish and in English.
  • High motivation for Public Health and Population studies.

Salary

The position is fixed-term for 36 months starting from April 1, 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The salary will be based on levels 5–6 of the demand level chart for teaching and research staff at Finnish universities. Additionally, a salary component based on personal work performance will be paid (maximum of 50% of the job-specific component). The starting gross salary will be approximately €3100–€4000 per month (before taxes).

A trial period of 6 months is applied to the position.
