Valio Ltd is seeking for a candidate for a joint postdoc proposal to PoDoCo (postdocs in companies) programme. PoDoCo (https://www.podoco.fi/ ) is a two-year project with a one-year research grant period applied from Finnish foundations and a one-year targeted research period employed by the company. Our experts will support the chosen candidate to put in place a research plan for PoDoCoProgram - application for the program should be in place latest by 31 October 2021. If you were chosen for the program, Valio will support you with relocation services to Helsinki.

The postdoc would be working at Valio R&D (Helsinki, Finland), in the Separation and Powder Technologies group, which focuses on dairy ingredients. The topic of the research period should align with the topics of the group including:

  • relationships of process variables with powder structure and functional properties
  • development of powder characterization methods
  • component behavior and interactions in processes and products
  • emulsion stability
  • powder storage stability
  • powder functionality in customer applications
  • drying kinetics
  • drying and dry blending technologies
  • We are looking for a recent PhD graduate interested in combining scientific understanding of the related phenomena with industrial products and processes and finding the best ways to prepare high quality products. You are target-oriented, self-driven and enjoy teamwork. At Valio R&D, you are supported by PhD’s, MSc’s and research assistants with backgrounds in food science and technology, chemistry, microbiology, chemical and process technology. In our laboratories and process facilities, you will have access to state of the art physical and chemical analysis and versatile pilot equipment.
