This is a permanent position with a starting date in October 2022 or as agreed. The position is located in the School of Technology and Innovation.  

Your role

You will be working as a laboratory engineer (mechanical specialization). Your role is to plan and perform changes to equipment, and to maintain the engines and auxiliary devices in University of Vaasa’s Laboratories (VEBIC). You will participate in developing the laboratory by planning new test beds and installations. The scope of duties includes but is not limited to: 

  • designing (CAD) new elements and components for the test beds 
  • installing components, sensors and actuators
  • regular engine maintaining and repairs

You will be working as part of a team of professional laboratory engineers working in a thriving research environment utilizing state of the art equipment.

Requirements

The candidate should have practical knowledge / experience of internal combustion engines and basic mechanical skills. The ability to read and make basic CAD drawings is a clear benefit for the candidate.

Successful applicants will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the related field of science, such as mechanical engineering, or other relevant experience.

We hope the candidate is able to work efficiently both independently and as part of the team. The working language is mainly English so fluent written and spoken English language skills are mandatory in the position. Your likelihood of selection for this position will be higher if you have experience in the following:

  • experience of 3D CAD designing software
  • experience of professional machining or welding
  • basic knowledge of programming
  • basic knowledge of electrical sensors and actuators
  • understanding of more advanced measuring devices
  • other language skills (Finnish and/or Swedish)

The position has a six (6) month’s trial-period.

Salary

The salary will be based on the Finnish University Salary System. The monthly salary is based on job demand level 8-9 (2640,49-3044,14€). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance.
