The Department of Chemistry , in the Faculty of Mathematics and Science is currently seeking to recruit a
DOCTORAL RESEARCHER, inorganic materials chemistry and catalysis
starting on September 1st, 2022 for four years.
This research position is jointly funded by the University of Jyväskylä and Dinex Finland Oy. The research project is focused on the synthesis and characterization of inorganic materials and their applications in various heterogeneous catalytic reactions. The research project will cover both academic and industrial perspectives of catalyst development and will be conducted both at the University and Dinex facilities.
Department of Chemistry is known for high-level research and teaching. The main strength areas of the department are chemical nanoscience, functional molecules and materials, chemistry in circular economy, and chemistry education. The department is a member of the Nanoscience Center of University of Jyväskylä, which promotes interdisciplinary research projects in nanoscience. The department has world-class laboratory infrastructure and large-scale computational resources. The position will be assigned to the Extended Molecular Systems (EMS) research group, which you can read about in more detail on the EMS-group’s website . Focus of the EMS-group on the synthesis of chemically functional materials. One of the key applications is catalysis and especially supported heterogeneous catalysis.
Dinex is a global manufacturer of exhaust emission systems. At Dinex Finland Oy we develop the chemical coatings used in the production of engine exhaust emission control catalysts for heavy duty and industrial applications. Dinex Finland is the technology development hub of the Danish based Dinex group who has operations in 15 countries, over 1500 employees worldwide and turnover over 150 million euros per year.
Qualifications we are looking for
We are looking for people who are particularly interested in inorganic materials chemistry and catalysis. Previous experience in the field of heterogeneous catalysts is considered an advantage. A good command of English is required. The tasks of a Doctoral Researcher focus on research aiming at the completion of a doctoral thesis, doctoral studies, assisting with teaching assignments, and other related tasks.
