Business Developer for Spatial Audio

Aalto University is looking for a BUSINESS DEVELOPER to join a team of experts in a research project in the field of Spatial Audio Hardware and Software.

This Research to Business (R2B) Project is co-funded by Business Finland, with the aim of establishing a startup company commercializing the project results.
 

We are now looking for a Business Developer to join the R2B project, with a later possibility to join the planned startup as a co-founder, and a key employee.
 

What You’ll Do

Your primary focus will be on identifying business opportunities, translation of customer needs into product & service features and specifications, developing strategies to establish our market presence, and nurturing relationships with potential clients and partners. You will work closely together with the expert team, feeding into their research activities.

Your key focus areas will include:

• Market research and analysis to identify market trends, segments, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
• Identify and evaluate business opportunities within the industry, including potential partnerships and collaborations.
• Participate in creating commercialization paths for the project, including customer offering & value proposition definition, business model scenario work, marketing strategy and a go-to market plan for the services and products developed in the project.
• Represent the project at industry events, trade shows, and conferences, including meetings with potential customers and investors.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activities to identify potential risks and opportunities.

Who Are We Looking For

We are looking for a business minded person with entrepreneurial mindset. You don’t need to be an expert of the specific technology but share the genuine interest and passion of the research team, to create something new and build a commercial business together.

The position is envisioned as a full-time occupation.

We value:

• Understanding of software & hardware development processes, agile methodologies, and product management.
• Experience in business development, sales, or product management within the hardware / software industry.
• Fluency in English, with good verbal communications skills
• Master's degree (or soon to be completed degree) in computer science, engineering, business, or a related field.
• Ability to work with people from different backgrounds
• Experience within a startup or other technology-driven environment is a plus.

You’ll work in tandem with the expert research team, with the support of business advisors and mentors, and Aalto Innovation Services, Aalto Startup Center, and the active Aalto community.
