The TUNI Prostate Cancer Research Center (PCRC) is a global leader in prostate cancer scientific research. The PCRC has over 60 employees or affiliates devoted to excellence in translating basic science research to improve health care. Our highly international, collegial team includes experts in medicine, molecular biology, cellular biology, genomics, bioinformatics, image analysis and software engineering. We are now looking for a Software Developer.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Your job is to develop Integrated Life Science Research (ILSR) database system designed to support the integration of clinical treatment methods and research via a system called Geoprostate. We are looking for a software developer who is creative, capable and eager to learn to join our ILSR and Geoprostate team. We offer an interesting opportunity to develop your skills with the latest web, security and database technologies. You will also get an excellent opportunity to work together with us towards reaching our common goal: to develop a system that enables more efficient, customized treatment methods for cancer patients and provide researchers valuable information in order for them to develop more precise and efficient cancer treatment methods.
REQUIREMENTS
- excellent software development capability using a current language such as Java, C++, C#, or others, previous experience in object-oriented and web programming, and SQL databases
- strong desire to develop top quality web-based database applications
- excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- at least one of the following: proven interest and expertise in image data processing, expertise in bioinformatics programming including Python, R, or Matlab, interest or expertise in artificial intelligence
WE OFFER
The position is from September 13, 2021 to September 30, 2022. The starting date is negotiable. Extension of two years is possible, if the project is successful. The candidate will be working on the Kauppi campus, Tampere, Finland, and by remote work.
The salary of a software developer will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. According to the criteria applied to other staff, the position of a software developer is placed on level 8-9 of the job requirements scale.
