The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Helsinki constitutes the academic medical centre together with HUS Helsinki University Hospital and the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE). This medical center has been successful in international comparisons, ranking among the top 10 medical campuses in Europe and the top 50 globally.

The Faculty of Medicine is looking for a

BIOSTATISTICIAN

starting from 1.1.2022 or as agreed. Trial period of 6 months will be applied.

The biostatistician will work at the Centre of Biostatistics at the Faculty of Medicine where he/she will assist researchers in the planning of medical research projects, in the data analysis during the projects, and in interpretation, reporting and publication of the results of the projects. In addition, the biostatistician will participate in the planning and implementation of teaching of biostatistics and statistical software (SPSS, R) for medical researchers.

To be a competitive candidate you should have completed a Master’s degree in a suitable discipline (e.g. statistics, bioinformatics, mathematics or a related discipline). You should master the most important statistical methods of medical research and statistical software tools and be fluent in written and spoken English. You should also have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to work both independently and also as a member of a team. Work experience in biostatistics and in medical research, consulting in biostatistics as well as teaching experience are appreciated. A Doctoral degree in a suitable discipline and knowledge of the Finnish language is considered as an advantage.

The salary will be based on the salary scheme for Finnish Universities for specialist and support staff with the job-specific requirement level being between 7 and 10. The salary is determined by the qualifications and work experience of the applicant and varies from 2.500 to 4.900 euros.
