This is a fixed term position starting at the beginning of March 2021 (or as agreed) and ending at the end of July 2022. The position is located at School of Technology and Innovation, University of Vaasa, and the position is funded by the Academy of Finland's DigiConsumers -project.
Your role
The tasks of this Assistant Professor position are mainly focused on high-quality research in the DigiConsumers project. DigiConsumers is a multidisciplinary research project for identifying solutions to improve the economic and consumer skills of young people between the ages of 13 and 25 especially in digital environments. As an information systems researcher your task is to work in the work package “Game-based approaches and digital tools in financial education”. In this work package we analyze how young people use digital tools to manage their finances, and how different digital tools can guide young people to identify and address factors influencing their own financial management decisions.
The tasks of this position include also teaching and guidance of theses.
All tasks are agreed in more detail in the Annual Work Plan. The annual working time for an Assistant Professor is 1612 hours.
Requirements
The position requires a relevant doctoral degree and the ability to independently conduct high-level scientific research in the specified area and the teaching skills required for the task. A proven track record in international scientific publishing is especially valued.

The position is situated in School of Technology and Innovations and team of Computing Sciences.
In the Computing Sciences team computing phenomena are studied from the viewpoints of computer engineering, automation, telecommunication, computer science, software engineering and information systems. This means that we have three important viewpoints, hardware, software, and organization viewpoints present in our teaching and research activities and that in our work as researchers and educators we tend to bridge the viewpoints.

Salary
The salary is based on the University Salary System for Teaching and Research Staff. The salary for an Assistant Professor is based on demand levels 5-6 (2967–3460 €/month). An additional personal salary component is paid based on work performance. An annual holiday bonus is paid to all employees in July. Each University of Vaasa employee automatically belongs to a pension scheme and the majority of the pension contributions are paid by the employer.
