Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering invites applications for an
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Are you passionate towards research and innovate novel computer hardware and computer based systems and networks?
We are recruiting for an Assistant Professor in Computer Engineering to strengthen Aalto University's research and education in the area of computer engineering, we are especially interested in candidates who are focusing on hardware-close software engineering with applications in networking hardware, edge and cloud computing, high-performance computing, low-power solutions, and mobile devices.
In this position, you will have a chance to make an impact by contributing to sustainable technological advancements of ICT infrastructure, shaping the future of computing in networked systems, and inspiring the next generation of engineers and researchers in this critical and rapidly evolving field. Your work will push the boundaries of academic research and drive applications that are essential to the progress of modern networking systems and technologies.
As a professor at the Department of Information and Communications Engineering (DICE) you will establish and supervise your own research group. A generous starting grant to establish initial research is available for the selected candidate. You also are expected to contribute to the teaching and management of the new English speaking the new Computer Engineering B.Sc major and in the Computer, Communication, and Information Sciences (CCIS) Master’s programme. As the language of instruction is English, excellent command of English is expected for teaching.
The position is to be filled at Assistant level of the Aalto University tenure track system. The position is full- time and depending of the qualifications, the selected applicant can be positioned either as 1st term assistant professor or 2nd term assistant professor.

The Department of Information and Communications Engineering (DICE) has 20 professors, with research clusters on Human-centric Technology, Communication and Networked Systems, and Fundamentals of Information and Communications Engineering. At the department, you will have numerous opportunities to link computer engineering with communications and networking technologies. The activities of the department take place in the Otaniemi campus of Aalto University in Espoo (Helsinki metropolitan area) which is the largest ICT industry hub in Finland making it easy to interact and collaborate with industrial partners.
The School of Electrical Engineering has excellent laboratory facilities including the Aalto Electronics-ICT laboratory and the Aalto Next G campus network, enabling you to conduct hands-on experimental research.
