The University of Turku is a world-class multidisciplinary research university that offers interesting challenges and a unique vantage point for national and international research and education. University of Turku is extending its research to materials and mechanical engineering, and from the beginning of 2021, a Faculty of Technology was started and with it, Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, and new research position in that field is now opened.

We are looking for a fixed-term postdoctoral researcher in the field of strong light-matter coupling in organic semiconductor microcavities and light-emitting diodes. The task of the postdoctoral researcher lasts 24 months with the possibility of an extension. The starting time for this position would be 01.12.2022, or upon mutual agreement, and the contract duration will be until the 30th of November 2024.

We are looking for proactive researchers with experience in computational modelling methods for planar photonic structures and multilayer semiconductor devices. The tasks of this position will involve both computational and experimental research, therefore will give bonus points to those who have worked in laser spectroscopy laboratories. We also value prior knowledge on strong light-matter coupling and microcavity polaritons.

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering of the University of Turku is looking for 1 postdoctoral researcher to join the group of Luminous Materials and Devices (LMD) led by Prof. Konstantinos Daskalakis (https://www.utu.fi/en/university/faculty-of-technology/mechanical-and-materials-engineering/research/luminous-materials-and-devices ). Your research will support a European-funded project (ERC StG) which focuses on utilizing polaritonics for developing the next generation of organic light-emitting devices.

We are an international group with numerous contacts from around the globe. Being a member of our team will allow you to grow your network substantially.

Requirements:

The postdoctoral researcher position is required to have either a Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics or related field background.

The qualification requirements of the positions are stated in the University of Turku rules of Procedure.
