We are now looking for a Data Warehouse Architect/Data Modeler to join our team.

In this role you will set the course for Aalto Data Warehouse architecture and development activities. You look actively for new technologies and possibilities to transform Aalto Data Warehouse to digital age, and you will take direct responsibility of further developing our Data Warehouse. You will drive the Aalto Data Warehouse platform architecture and best practices to ensure that Aalto Data Warehouse functions well according to the latest standards.

In addition to all this, we are curious about your ideas – you will be able to shape your work based on your interest areas. In this position, you will get to work with and support Finland’s top gurus from different fields and be a part of an ambitious working environment that you can be proud of.

Your Responsibilities

  • Conception, design, development, and deployment of data architecture and data models
  • Provide direction for the architectural design
  • Work together with Aalto Data Warehouse solution owner to develop data warehouse platform vision, strategy, and roadmap
  • Follow various ETL Processes to prepare design for all metadata
  • Contribute to actual development of MS SQL Data Warehouse and related activities
  • Encourage the adoption of Aalto Data Warehouse framework by providing documentation, training, sample code, and developer support

Your experience and ambitions

You are by nature a Data Warehousing and Data Modeling expert with experience and skills from on premise infrastructure to hybrid cloud. You don’t need to be an expert in all of the technologies we are using but you can communicate fluently with the internal and external specialist who are. Earlier you might have worked as an IT architect or Database specialist focusing on Data Warehouse. However, you can succeed and enjoy working in this position coming from many different backgrounds. You get excited about the newest IT technologies and envisioning the possibilities they could offer in taking Aalto’s digitalization further. Working with vendors is familiar to you. You collaborate and communicate naturally with other IT professionals, academics as well as entrepreneurs from Aalto startup community.

More than anything, we hope you are passionate about your field of work and enthusiastic about constantly innovating and learning something new together with others.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience developing enterprise data warehouses, data migrations, data transformations, and data architecture
  • Extensive experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures preferred
  • Experience in Python Framework to Process XML, CSV, JSON, TSV, TXT files
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing system requirements
  • Proven critical-thinking skills and problem-solving attitude
