Aalto Nanofab operates on the Aalto University campus in Micronova research center . Micronova houses the largest academic cleanroom facility (2600 m2 ) in the Northern Europe with cleanroom areas ranging from ISO4 to ISO6. Aalto Nanofab represents Aalto University’s share (700 m2 ) of this joint facility and provides access to over 100 production and measurement equipment. Nanofab supports the research of over 200 researchers who carry out research in a number of fields such as quantum technologies, photonics, renewable energy and microsystems to name just a few. Aalto Nanofab is part of the national OtaNano research infrastructure, jointly operated with VTT.
Your role and goals
You will be part of a service team of ten experts with a role in developing and maintaining the cleanroom capabilities that Micronova offers for the academic and industrial users. The main focus of your responsibilities in the cleanroom and other Micronova laboratory facilities is to
• coordinate and run the common operations and their development (e.g. daily problem solving, communication, user and safety trainings)
• support the cleanroom users by guiding and training them in their practical questions
• maintain selected tools and processes
• consult the users in contamination issues and in quality control (understanding of cross contamination, approving new processes and materials)
Aalto Nanofab is constantly improving the capabilities in Micronova cleanroom and thus the position enables you to broaden your expertise as new opportunities arise. In addition to the responsibilities described here you have the chance to improve and affect the daily operations of Micronova facilities according to your own interests e.g. take part in process development and procurement of new equipment.
You have a degree in natural sciences or technology (electrical engineering, electronics, semiconductor technology, material sciences or chemistry) and your education is complemented with working experience in cleanroom environment(s). You understand cleanroom operations and requirements, e.g. how to control cross contamination. You are familiar with basic cleanroom processes (e.g. wafer cleaning, lithography) and have practical experience in planning and executing them.
