Job Description

A Research Fellow position is open in the research group of Assistant Professor Wang Hao, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, National University of Singapore (NUS).

The group is committed to establishing the fundamental sciences in the field of micromanufacturing based on experimental works and numerical findings.

We are seeking a self-motivated candidate to evaluate innovative methods to improve the machinability of difficult-to-machine materials in the field of ultra-precision machining. He/she should have an interest in the above-mentioned research area.

The Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and supporting staff and student members on research projects involving ultra-precision machining.

The job scope will include:

  • Experimental and theoretical research under the supervision of the PI and supporting research members.
  • Writing technical reports and manuscripts.
  • Collaboration with a strong research team on a wide range of topics in micromanufacturing.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Good knowledge of theoretical modelling and experimental validation (e.g. material characterisation and physical/mechanical tests) in the relevant field of ultraprecision machining is required.
  • Experience in modelling and simulation with dislocation dynamics and crystal plasticity finite element method is required;
  • Good publication track record.
