We are seeking highly motivated research assistant to join our group for the development of the biosensors for high throughput screening of engineered microbes developed for bioproduction for high value chemicals. The purpose is to accelerate the development of engineered cell factories for sustainable production of high value chemical in a eco-friendly manner. Synthetic biology is a rapidly growing field which plays a central role in the Bioeconomy. Our Engineering biology group @ NUS (https://engbio.syncti.org ) specializes in Synthetic Biology in which we engineer microbes with useful capabilities for medical and industrial applications. We have since engineered microbes as cell factories for production of specialty chemicals. This project is funded by the National Research Foundation Synthetic Biology Program. The research assistant is expected to work in a high interdisciplinary team.
The primary role of the research assistant is to work togetherwith the senior researchers in the project to developing and testing the sensors to screen engineered microbes. The research assistant will also be required to assist in the engineering of the microbes. This include benchmarking the sensor performance using standard procedure.
- Basic understanding of synthetic biology
- Lab experience with molecular biology techniques.
- Ability to work as part of a team, collaborating and communicating effectively with members of other functional groups.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and embrace change in an extremely fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor degree in bioengineering/chemical engineering and life science or related fields.
