We are will recruit a laboratory technician to expand our genotyping unit at FIMM technology center.

The Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) is an international research institute focusing on human genomics and personalized medicine at the Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE), University of Helsinki. FIMM integrates molecular medicine research, technology center and biobanking infrastructures under one roof promoting translational research and personalized medicine in health care.

The genotyping unit at FIMM is specialized in genotyping applications including whole genome and targeted analysis. Our services are used by both local researchers and other national and international research groups.

We are looking for a laboratory technician to join our genotyping unit.

Job tasks include:

  • Maintenance of laboratory equipment and environment
  • Use of computer guided equipment such as pipetting robots and fluorescence scanners
  • Sample preparation
  • Method and protocol development

Candidates should have a degree in laboratory science or a related discipline. We value a positive mindset, attention to detail, and excellent problem solving and team working skills. Previous work experience of laboratory work and automated liquid handlers is considered an advantage.

The salary will be in line with the University salary (YPJ) system. The position will be fixed-termed until 31.12.2022 in the first instance with further extensions depending on the availability of funding. A six-month trial period will be applied.
