Position overview

The Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research (CAEPR) in the College of Arts and Social Sciences in partnership with the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Cultural Centre invites applications for the position of Research Fellow (Level B) to carry out social science research on Indigenous policy that is of high international and disciplinary standard and informs intellectual understanding, public debate, policy formation and social action. This position aims to attract talented, recent doctoral graduates who will complement the Centre's existing disciplinary mix, which includes anthropology, economics, political science, education, and development studies. This position will be based in CAEPR at the Australian National University. The Kimberley Region is the focus area, but the position can be completed from either The Kimberley, Canberra or Perth.

CAEPR is seeking someone with proven quantitative and/or qualitative research skills, a record of publications in peer-reviewed books, journals and/or policy-focused reports, and a demonstrated capacity to build strong relationships with First Nations communities and organisations, researchers, and policy makers.  Previous experience in Indigenous evaluation or community development in the Kimberley will be desirable but not essential. In addition, the successful candidate also will also have a demonstrated capacity to apply for competitive grants and carry out commissioned research.
