The Research and Innovation Portfolio supports researchers and graduate researchers with research partnerships, grants and research contracts, funding opportunities, capability development, research training, ethics and integrity, intellectual property, commercialisation, internships, communication and profile. Research Strategy and Services sits within this Portfolio and supports researchers to achieve excellent research outcomes. Research Strategy and Services supports strategy development and implementation and continuous improvement in services, systems and processes

About the role

The Coordinator, Research Proposals will provide high quality services to researchers in the development and submission of competitive pre-award research grant and fellowship schemes, both national and international.

The Research Proposals team is responsible for providing high quality services to researchers in the identification of funding opportunities; development of research grants, fellowships and proposals for international funding, foundations, and prizes; supporting internal funding schemes; and submission of eligible and compliant applications to funders.

The role contributes to the development and implementation of targeted strategies and initiatives which support improvements in grant application and research proposals quality and quantity.

To be successful in this position, you will be required to have the following:

  • Must identify as an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • Experience in grant management in a relevant role in a complex research environment.
  • Subject matter knowledge of funding schemes and rules; relevant policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to help achieve the strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • Strategic thinking, problem solving and analytical skills at the strategic and operational level
  • Relationship building and negotiation skills

Qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in a university or research institution.

*This is a Targeted position and therefore ONLY open to applicants of Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage in accordance with an exemption granted under section 12 of the Vic - Equal Opportunity Act 2010.
