The Department of Electrical Power Engineering and Mechatronics of Tallinn University of Technology invites applications for a Tenured Professor position. The position is fulfilled within the framework of the professorships in the areas of public interest of Estonia at Tallinn University of Technology, established in accordance with the Tallinn University of Technology Act (§9 section 3), specialisation in electrical engineering.

The goal of the position is to ensure excellence in the field of electrical engineering at Tallinn University of Technology, including teaching, research and development activities.

Excellence is perceived through

  • providing world-class skills and know-how on current topics in the field of electrical engineering, within methods and tools in research and application, contributing to the solution of up-to-date challenges;
  • conducting academic research through up-to-date methods, including academic cooperation with domestic and international parties, also providing contribution to the development of academic staff;
  • providing research and development services to industrial partners through participation in research and development projects, sector-specific consulting and expert services, supporting the societal targets through modern technology; 
  • ensuring effective knowledge transfer in the field of electrical engineering through related teaching activities at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels;
  • advancement of higher education and professional top-level knowledge in Estonian;
  • maintaining and developing the laboratory and expert service capabilities of Tallinn University of Technology, including contributing to the further development of laboratory staff skills and infrastructure.

Tasks:

  • Conducting research and development activities in the field of electrical engineering and applied electromagnetic engineering, management of scientific activities in the field, communication of scientific activities.
  • Leading the development of the material base necessary for research and development in electrical engineering and applied electromagnetic engineering.
  • Organizing academic teaching and learning development activities in the field.
  • Professional teaching, research, and development activities in the field of electrical engineering and applied electromagnetic engineering.
  • Carrying out teaching and learning development activities at a modern methodological and educational-technological level.
  • Supervising doctoral, master´s and bachelor's students in conducting independent research.
  • Developing cooperation with external R&D institutions and companies in the field of research.
  • Publishing research and development results and communicating research results to the general public.
  • Obtaining and including additional external funding to support activities in the field.
  • Working as an expert in the field.
  • Accompanying tasks: participation in the work of Estonian and international professional decision-making bodies and committees; cooperation with the editorial boards of scientific journals, reviewing scientific publications; raising public awareness of teaching and research topics in the field of electrical engineering; coordination of continuing professional education activities.

Specific Requirements
  • A doctoral degree in electrical engineering and/or applied electromagnetic engineering.
  • Previous international work experience in the field of research.
  • Experience in research and development activities as an applicant and principal investigator.
  • The level and referencing of scientific publications is at a comparable level to those of professors operating in the same field in TalTech's reference universities, including a technical sciences h-index of >= 10.
  • Experience in pedagogical activities, including the supervision of master's and doctoral theses. 
  • Effective supervision of doctoral theses.
