Tallinn University has announced a public competition for the position of Research Fellow in Film and Television Data Analytics.
The position will be filled from 01.12.2022. The duration of the employment contract is 2 years. The start of the employment contract is flexible and will be negotiated with the winner of the competition. The deadline of submitting the application documents is 2nd November 2022 (incl).

Description of the position:

Film and television data analytics research fellow will work with professor Indrek Ibrus and the research team of the project “Public Value of Open Cultural Data” (https://publicvalueofdata.tlu.ee ). Research fellow will apply data science methods to study how value is being created in the networks of film and television professionals and institutions or how value is being perceived and consumed by the users of media content or services. Research fellow will work with data from partnering institutions including media sector startups, film industry databases and public service as well as commercial broadcasters. Position includes collaborating with such partnering instititions, consulting their database designs, cleaning received datasets, carrying out data analytic work, writing research articles and participating in research conferences.

The work is suitable for a postdoctoral student.

Requirements for the candidate:

The candidate must meet the requirements for the position of researcher in Appendix No. 5  of the Employment Relations Rules:

  • The candidate must have a doctoral degree or equivalent qualification, in the case of a postdoctoral position, a doctoral degree defended outside Tallinn University is required;
    • the successful candidate will have a PhD in a field closely related to the topics outlined in the job description.
  • international professional experience, whether
    • completion of graduate studies or postdoctoral studies in a foreign country, or;
    • completion of continuing education in a foreign country within the last 5 years or
    • doing professional academic work (including a doctoral thesis) in a foreign country for at least 1 year, or preferably at least 3 months in total during the last 5 years.

Duties and workload: The workload is 1.0 (40 hours per week) and the workload is divided between research activities (85%), teaching (10%) and social and institutional activities (5%) in accordance with Tallinn University's labor relations regulations. The duration of the employment contract is 2 years.

Salary: Remuneration by agreement, according to the remuneration regulations of Tallinn University.

Location of work: Tallinn

Beginning and duration of the employment contract: The position will be filled from December 1, 2022. The start date of the contract is flexible and will be agreed upon with the competition winner. The duration of the employment contract is 2 years.
