Duties and responsibilities

  • Lecturing and conducting seminars in the areas of software engineering, software architecture, web development, and/or software quality assurance.
  • Supervising PhD, master’s and bachelor’s theses by students.
  • Conducting research in software engineering at the international level.
  • Participation in the work of the university’s decision-making bodies is recommended.
  • Engaging in science outreach activities.

PhD or an equivalent qualification.

Required experience
  • Candidates must have successful teaching experience in an institution of higher education at the bachelor’s and/or master’s levels. Evidence of teaching experience in at least two out of the following subject matters must be provided: (1) software engineering, (2) software analytics, (3) software testing, (4) software architecture/design, (5) web-application development.
  • Research experience and publications in the field of software engineering are required. A candidate must be familiar with empirical research methods in software engineering.
  • A track record of at least five publications in highly reputable venues in the area of software engineering is required.
  • Experience in supervising students in topics related to software engineering is desirable.

Required language skills
 
Excellent command of the English language is required. Estonian is recommended but not required. According to the Language Act, academic staff with foreign citizenship working in Estonia must have acquired at least B1-level Estonian language skills after five years of work. The Centre for Professional Development offers foreigners and their family members the opportunity to participate in Estonian language courses.

Workload 1,00
Salary
From 3000 euros (gross) per month depending on work experience and qualifications. This amount is subject to taxation at a 20% flat tax rate. The total annual payroll is 50000 euros, which includes taxes by the employer.

A candidate can be required to submit the original or a certified copy of the document (including its annexes) showing the candidate to hold the required qualification. If the candidate has acquired the higher education in question abroad, he or she may be required to submit an assessment issued by the Academic Recognition Information Centre (the Estonian ENIC/NARIC) of his or her qualification in respect of the qualification requirements for the position;
  • a research and teaching vision;
  • other materials considered relevant by the candidate (a list of such materials must be included in the application or annexed to it).
