Lecturer of Ship Electrical Mechanics

The goal of the post is to conduct teaching (lectures, practices and practical training) on the speciality courses of TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy daytime studies, to conduct examinations/assessments in the field of Ship Electrical Mechanics according to IMO model courses and to participate in the Shipping Centre’s development work. The expected workload is full-time (40 hours a week), but part-time load is also possible. The post shall be filled as soon as possible.  

Tasks

Teaching on the Ship Electrical Mechanics speciality. Preparation of the courses and teaching materials, incl. preparation of e-learning materials for the following courses:

  • Marine Electrical and Electronic Equipment
  • Technology of Electrical Materials
  • Construction and Operation of Automatic Control Systems of Ship Equipment
  • Electrical Machines and Drives
  • Marine Electric Powerplants

Qualification requirements

  • higher education* and a certificate of competency as an Electro-Technical Engineer;
  • familiar with ship electrical devices and mechanisms, experience in configuring their control systems;
  • at least 5-year professional work experience or experience in teaching in the field of Ship Electrical Mechanics;
  • English (advanced), Estonian** (at least basic).

* In case the elected Lecturer has I level higher education, then she/he will use the official title „Teacher“until obtaining the master’s degree.
** In case the requirement is not fulfilled, then the candidate is expected to obtain at least basic Estonian to support her/his teaching.
