Research and teaching in the following fields: ecology of freshwater phytoplankton, water policy and

management, impact of climate change on Estonian lakes, biogeochemical cycles in lakes and lake metabolism. The candidate is expected to apply and lead research grants in the field, analyse and generalise the research results, publish in leading

international journals, engage in science popularisation and public outreach, conduct international research cooperation, supervise master and PhD students, supervision of an international doctoral study “Sensitivity of lake types and their phytoplankton to environmental disturbance” under Horizon 2020 Innovative Training Networks.
