Offer Description

Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Researcher in the Chair of Energy Application Engineering, to start as soon as possible for 1 year, with an extension of an additional year, based on project outcomes

Description of the profile:

Applicants must possess a PhD degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering or closely related discipline. A good command of spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of nanomaterials synthesis, characterization and electrochemistry is a prerequisite. The employment requires characterizing nanomaterials and studying their capacity to extract heavy metal from water in dynamic mode. The redox mechanisms involved in the extraction of heavy metals from aqueous solutions using electrochemistry will be elucidated. In addition, knowledge in adsorption isotherms and dynamic adsorption models will be necessary to perform the study. The position requires to work in collaboration with private companies. Good organizational skills, ability to work with other researcher through collaborative work is essential, a strong sense of communication and self-motivation are important. Knowledge in hydrometallurgy will be a plus. The appointee will perform water and soil remediation studies using nanocomposites. Previous postdoctoral experience will be considered. A salary according to remuneration grades corresponding to positions at the Estonian University of Life Science in 2024 will be offered, and qualifications and experience of the candidate will be considered. Position includes annual leave and social security.
