Offer Description

The Centre for Dependable Computing Systems of the Department of Computer Systems invites applications to fill in the assistant professor position in the field of Hardware Verification. The goal of the position is to establish a high-level research group in the field of hardware verification, lead and manage its activities and engage in balanced teaching and research activities.

Tasks:

  • conducting and organisation of research and development in the field and leading of research topics;
  • development of cooperation with other research and development institutions and companies;
  • development of the material basis required for research and development in the field of hardware verification;
  • teaching, research, and development activities in the field of hardware security verification in a balanced volume in compliance with the Academic Career Management; 
  • supervision of doctoral, master's and bachelor's students in conducting independent research, supervision of graduation theses; 
  • publication of the results of research and development; working as an expert in the field; 
  • teaching (also at bachelor’s level, but focusing on master’s and doctoral level) and development of studies by using up-to-date methodologies and educational technology in the field of hardware verification: 
  • participating in development of and being responsible for the quality of academic studies in the field; 
  • expected lines of research and development: creating a security verification platform for digital systems, including its main components such as memory, processor, and communication channel.

Related tasks: participation in the work of national and international professional decision-making bodies and committees; cooperation with the editorial boards of scientific journals, reviewing research articles; popularisation of one's speciality and area of research.

The assistant professor position is temporary up to eight years, from 1 September 2024 until 31 August 2032, or until first attestation.

Specific Requirements
  • PhD degree or equivalent qualification, no more than 10 years have passed since defending the doctoral degree (in case of using parental leave, maternity leave or paternity leave or in compulsory military service or alternative service after having obtained a doctoral degree, the time limit shall be extended by the period of the leave or service).
  • Post-doctoral studies are completed and/or professional work experience in another organisation outside Tallinn University of Technology, preferably in international research environment, more specifically, international research experience in the field of hardware verification and security is expected.
  • The level of scientific publications and number of citations is comparable to the ones of the same level professors in the same field at the reference universities of Tallinn University of Technology, h-index ≥6.
  • Successful experience in funding applications. 
  • Participation in the activities of professional or research organizations and networks or professional work experience (incl. in business).
  • Participation in public engagement (publication of opinion pieces or popular science articles, performing at events of scientific or other organizations, professional activity on social media, conducting of continuing education courses or subject competitions or supporting teaching and research in upper secondary schools, etc.).
  • Previous teaching experience in a university at master level will give an advantage. 
  • Advanced English; basic Estonian, or its acquisition.
