Purpose: The job holder will maintain the orderly and consistent operation of technology and facilities for the needs of students, faculty, and staff in the arts department. Ensures regular and reliable access to equipment and facilities necessary to student success in courses reliant on those technologies. Assist the multimedia senior specialist in maintaining the audio-visual equipment and IT inventory. That includes installing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting departmental technical equipment. Facilitates technical setup and installation for art projects within the Sharjah gallery and supports guests to install any projects within the department of arts.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and trouble-shooting department’s audio-visual and IT equipment
  • Responsible for managing reservations, check-out and returns of all audio-visual equipment to
  • department’s students, faculty and staff
  • Supervises and arranges for videotaping and sound recording department events within the university, this includes music concerts, plays, some classes, and workshops
  • Responsible for the maintenance of faculty and staff office computers.
  • Supervises department’s computer labs including instructional and administrative applications and platforms
  • Responsible for the maintenance of computer hardware and software
  • Maintains regular open access to the film program's computer lab and provides help to users during general lab use
  • Responsible for physical arrangement of laboratory space and inventory
  • Administer hardware, software and cable installations
  • Organize and maintain equipment as well as the equipment room
  • Supervise and maintains operation of the music studio spaces, design media labs, film labs and shooting spaces
  • Coordinates the installation and de-installation of AV equipment and IT setups for exhibitions
  • Assists faculty and staff in developing specialized training materials, special classroom and lab workshops for students, faculty and staff in electronic and remote communications
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Experience:  

  • At least three to five years of experience, including two in the field of AV and multimedia technology

 Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of electronics and technical installations
  • The ability to professionally manage audio/video public events
  • Strong understanding of computer software installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of film, video and audio technologies
  • Working knowledge of Adobe creative cloud, NLE’s and DAW’s
