Project Manager, University Centers for Career Development Projects, Grant Position

Purpose: The holder of this position will manage the establishment of 2 or 3 university centers for career development in 1 or 2 assigned public universities in Egyptian governorates with funding from United States Agency for International Development (USAID); over the span of four years according to the project plan, budget and timeline, ensuring successful achievement of outcomes. He/she will oversee the performance of University Centers for Career Development (UCCD) staff, coordinate the organization, monitoring and evaluation of the program activities; manage partnership relations and contribute to the development of donor quarterly and annual reports.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Manage the establishment of 2 or 3 university centers for career development in assigned 1 or 2 public universities in Egyptian governorates in coordination with the project team, UCCD staff and public university administration, using best practices/tools for project execution
  • Ensure that project goals and deliverables are aligned with project implementation
  • Plan and schedule project timeline and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Handle the organization and logistics of all project-related events and activities according to the set budget and timeline.
  • Oversee the day-to-day program activities within assigned universities
  • Liaise with the administrative and financial officer on relevant administrative and financial functions
  • Develop effective working relationships, liaise and maintain a regular flow of communication with companies, project team, UCCD staff and university administration
  • Develop status and progress reports, and contribute summary of achievements to be included in four quarterly and one annual technical reports per year
  • Track success stories and contribute to program’s communication/marketing plan
  • Translate English/Arabic documents as needed, and ensure proper documentation of project correspondence and material
  • Monitor and evaluate the project progress and effectiveness in relation to desired outcomes
  • Ensure the implementation of a sustainability plan that assures continuity of the project beyond its lifetime

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science is required
  • Master of Arts in a related field is an asset

Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience, including 5 years in managing funded projects and donor relations
  • Prior experience in areas of education, development or corporate social responsibility is preferred
  • Good knowledge of project schedule management and report writing
  • Experience in volunteer management, event planning, and program monitoring and evaluation required
  • Previous marketing experience is an advantage

Skills:

  • Excellent command of spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Supervisory and leadership skills, with good attention to details and excellent follow-up skills
  • Multi-tasking ability
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and assume project management responsibility
  • Excellent relationship-building, networking and follow up skills
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with project constituents

  • Good computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint); avid internet user
  • Good command of Project Management software an asset
  • Skilled in collecting and analyzing data
  • Excellent report writing skills
