Principal Accountant, Treasury Operations

Reports to: Assistant Director, Treasury Operations

Purpose: Supervise and executes all Treasury activities related to cash collection and disbursement, as well as daily monitoring of all The American University in Cairo’s (AUC) bank accounts both local and foreign with direct reporting to the assistant director of treasury operations.

Principal Accountabilities:

Daily

• Executes daily banking operation, including intra-accounts transfers, accounts monitoring
• Assisting the assistant director in managing short-term investments
• Responding to bank inquiries regarding AUC operations and monitors the communications with the AUC departments to facilitate inflows and outflows of funds
• Monitoring of online transfer systems as ACH, PAYFORT, and CIB business online
• Prepares endowment funds’ directive orders, cash sweeps and reports when due

Monthly

• Monitoring the bank privileges, as the interest, Letter of credit (LC), letter of guarantee (LG) and the immediate collections, in addition to controlling the bank charges
• Ensure the outstanding items are identified, communicated, and recognized
• Follow up with bank reconciliation team for outstanding, unreconciled items
• Prepares monthly actual versus cash projections reports
• Perform other related duties as requested by direct supervisor

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

Experience

• Minimum of six years of experience in accounting/finance areas

Skills

• Very Good English language both spoken and written
• Attention to details and punctuality
• Knowledge of banking operations is a plus
• Very good knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Familiar with SAP system is a plus
