Reports to: Chief of Party

Purpose: The job holder of this position will develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Egyptian Pioneers in line with The American University in Cairo’s (AUC) and USAID’s policies and regulations. He/she will lead the communication and outreach plan of the USAID Egyptian Pioneers program to enhance its brand, identify and promote its full range of activities. In addition, create awareness about the program among stakeholders and in the community. The job holder will be responsible for managing and collaborating with the team on content development, developing and executing communication, and assessing outcomes as well as developing presence and visibility of the USAID Egyptian Pioneers in relevant events, overseeing website and online presence, enhancing awareness of identity and branding and disseminating program activities through the different digital and traditional channels. He/she will organize the project’s events and manage the production of its print and digital communications.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy in line with AUC’s and USAID’s policies and regulations, securing effective print, digital marketing and social media channels for the entire program
  • Conduct outreach campaigns among stakeholders and in the community to increase awareness about its goal and activities
  • Lead work with AUC communication office on the development and the update website content
  • Manage the implementation of social media campaigns to convey the project outcomes to its constituencies, and effectively support its goals and activities
  • Manage the content development and production of program brochures and videos, press advisory and press releases, website, and editing of quarterly and annual reports
  • Develop guidelines for the development of USAID Egyptian Pioneers communications material, provide guidance, and oversee their print, digital, website, and social media material
  • Contribute to quarterly and annual technical reports as needed
  • Design and execute online/Social Media marketing campaigns to promote USAID Egyptian Pioneers and its activities within the community and among program stakeholders through LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and other Social Media networks
  • Contract freelancers as necessary and supervise their activities including: copywriters, videographers, photographers and so on. As well as agencies (digital, social, branding)
  • Contribute to graphic design work to support the program’s marketing communications, adhering to the AUC/USAID branding guidelines
  • Develop required marketing/publicity strategy in collaboration with relevant program managers
  • Ensure the production of communications material and effective media campaigns relevant to each event
  • Perform other duties as requested from the direct supervisor

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirements:

  • BA/BSc in business, communication or writing field is required
  • Master’s degree is a plus

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience, including 7 in a related field

Skills:

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English and Arabic is a must
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal skills
  • Experience overseeing the design and production of websites, print materials and publications
  • Commitment to working with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. and ability to articulate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Experience in managing social media campaigns with good writing and editorial skills
  • Excellent editorial skills and familiarity with AP and Chicago style guides
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and assume responsibility for the program’s marketing communication campaigns and events
  • Professional level skills in publications development
  • Skilled in graphic design and web content management
  • Attention to detail is a must
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented work style
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Working experience with Adobe PageMaker, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Capacity to work under pressure, multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
