Reports to: Director, Student Service Center

Purpose: The job holder will assist in planning and performing all aspects of student recruitment in Egypt and abroad, and manage and perform all functions at the Student Service Center (SSC), thus serving as the main point of liaison between The American University in Cairo (AUC) and the general public and other concerned parties

Principal Accountabilities:  

  • Act as the first line of contact between the University and the general public and relays clear and accurate information on AUC
  • Represents the University in all local and international student recruitment events (Graduate and Undergraduate):
  • Participates in educational fairs in Egypt and abroad serving as a first line of information about all AUC programs
  • Arranges and performs school visit in Egypt and abroad. This entails meeting high school counselors, giving student presentations about AUC admission requirements and responding to the students’ and counselors’ general inquiries
  • Represents the office in president recruitment events during fund raising trips
  • Serves as AUC’s main information provider at the Student Service Center
  • Handles all AUC inquiries received by e-mail, by phone or other means of correspondence
  • Build and maintain active and effective working relationships with public and act as a link with concerned university offices, departments and outside contacts
  • Responsible for building and maintaining active relationships with school counselors in Egypt and the Middle East
  • Ensures the centralization of prospective and enrolled student services through the Student Service Center
  • Responsible for generating and analyzing data generated from the SSC visitor management system and issuing bi-monthly reports
  • Provide detailed and informative reports on SSC functions in addition to reports on status of recruitment and applications to AUC
  • Responsible for arranging individual and group campus tours for prospective students, parents and VIPS
  • Responsible for training and coordinating a group of enrolled AUC undergraduates who handle guided campus tours for prospective students, parents, VIPs, and school counselors
  • Perform any other related tasks as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement

  • University degree in related fields

Experience

  •  Minimum of ten years of previous experience including four years in educational organization

Skills

  • Presentable with highly advanced presentation and public speaking skills
  • Advanced knowledge acquisition and dissemination abilities, acting simultaneously as operational generalists and specialists with broad familiarity of various university-wide procedures and specialized knowledge of job-specific functions
  • Advanced organizational and time-management skills
  • High ability to work effectively in a team on a diverse range of projects with different requirements and time frames
  • Ability to handle and take responsibility of projects and tasks individually
  • High ability to adapt to changing job requirements and self-develop own skills to match the dynamic job environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in different circumstances that job may require, such as working under tight deadlines, peak periods, event preparation, and frequent travel
  • Ability and willingness to travel frequently (alone or accompanied) to different destinations as required by the job
