Purpose: Provide legal services; including advice, counsel, representation, and research and ensures the compliance of the University’s operations with applicable laws and regulations.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the management of numerous and varied legal matters and will provide timely and effective advice and counsel to various University units and personnel
  • Conduct legal research and providing legal opinions in respect of various aspects of the Egyptian laws
  • Represent the University before governmental bodies, agencies and committees
  • Draft, negotiate and review University contracts, including but not limited to, procurement, information technology, service agreements, maintenance, construction and so on
  • Monitor recent changes in applicable laws, regulations and decrees and advises on changes and anticipated changes, which may have impact on the University’s business and operations
  • Oversee litigation cases that are handled by external legal counsels. Ensure that legal cases are handled in the best interest of the University and in a timely manner
  • Issue updates and periodical litigation reports regarding the status of all litigation matters
  • Responsible for all alimony matters including responding to court requests and sending briefing memoranda to the payroll office
  • Conduct internal investigations in respect of several types of violations to applicable laws and policies
  • Maintain an efficient litigation filing system to facilitate updating and retrieving files efficiently
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum Education Requirement

  • Bachelor’s of law is required
  • Registered at the Egyptian Bar Association.

Experience

  • 2 - 4 years of experience in the general legal field
  • Good knowledge and practice in the general legal field

Skills

  • Efficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents in both Arabic and English
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Very good command of English and Arabic, written and spoken
  • Ability to analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
